IPL technology can be used to treat things such as unwanted hair, pigmentation and sun damage, vascular ailments such as thread veins and rosacea and active acne.
Light based treatments are also proven to rejuvenate the skin, promoting a more uniform complexion, as well as stimulating collagen to give clients a younger fresher look.
When used in conjunction peel and lift facial, the results of the treatment are enhanced dramatically, since all of the dead skin cells on the face are removed prior to the light based treatment. This means the effects of the light are optimised due to the fact that none of the light energy is wasted by being absorbed by dead skin cells.
Hair Removal
Intense Pulsed Light and Laser treatment permanently reduces unwanted hair by destroying the hair root so that it can never re-grow. It is non-invasive, treatments are quick and results are seen in just a few sessions.
Treatments also offer a long term solution for hormone related hair growth or large areas of unwanted hair.
Intense Pulsed Light systems release precisely controlled short bursts of light that are absorbed by melanin, the pigment in hair. This heats the hair and destroys the root to achieve long term hair reduction.
Only hair that is actively growing is affected, therefore multiple treatments are needed. Treatment is conducted every 4– 8 weeks, depending on the area being treated, until a satisfactory result is seen. Treatments can take from 15 minutes to an hour, depending on the area being treated. The number of treatments required varies, but typically 6 or more treatments are required for maximum results.

Red Vein Removal
We use Intense Pulsed Light and Laser Intense Pulsed Light as a breakthrough treatment for the removal of thread veins and permanent red flushing, as it can effectively and quickly remove veins that are too small for other removal techniques.
The intense pulsed light and laser system releases precisely controlled short pulses of filtered light that are absorbed by the blood vessel, heating it to a point where it is destroyed. Following treatment the vessels quickly clear and are reabsorbed by the body, leaving little or no trace of the original lesion.
The fairer the skin, the easier the treatment. The best response is seen with small thread veins, spider naevi and rosacea. If there are any areas of broken skin, treatment has to be delayed until the area has completely healed.

Pigment removal and Sun Damage
Intense Pulsed Light offers a very effective treatment for pigmented marks such as age/liver spots and freckles that appear on the face and hands.
How do Intense Pulsed Light and Lasers work?
Intense pulsed light systems release precisely controlled very short pulses of filtered light that are absorbed by the melanin in freckles, sun spots or liver spots. The pigmented area absorbs the light and is heated, and is removed by skin renewal. Following treatment, the pigmented area turns darker and may crust. Over the following weeks the pigmented area will gradually flake away from the skin leaving little trace of the original mark.
How is the treatment carried out?
Am I suitable for treatment?
Yes, almost everyone can be treated, apart from very dark skinned or tanned individuals. However, large, dark, mottled or raised pigmentation cannot be treated and may need to be checked by a dermatologist. Not all pigmented lesions can be treated, large, dark moles should not be treated, nor should lesions covering a large part of the body. The pigmented marks that respond the best are superficial lesions such as those caused by sun damage (sun spots) and freckles.

Intense Pulsed Light IPL is a fantastic treatment for mild to moderate active acne. It can be very effective at calming overactive oil glands and removing any bacterial infection, particularly when used with specialist skin care regimes.
The Intense Pulsed Light system releases yellow and red light that is emitted in a series of short pulses. The
yellow/green light destroys the bacteria that live in the skin and cause acne, while the red light directly targets the
overactive sebaceous glands that cause outbreaks of pustules. This targeted heating deep in the skin causes shrinkage
of the inflamed sebaceous glands and helps to prevent overproduction of excess sebum.
A typical treatment session will take in the region of 30 minutes. Typically Intense Pulsed Light treatment is combined with glycolic acid facial peel.
How many treatments are necessary?
The number of treatments necessary varies from person to person, but typically 6 Intense Pulsed Light and 6 Glycolic acid peel treatments will result in significant improvement, depending on the severity of the condition. Intense Pulsed Light treatments should take place fortnightly, with glycolic acid peel between treatments.

Skin Rejuvenation
